I am considering making a burner Twitter account that I rarely use, for the sole purpose of engaging with my boyfriend publicly online. Maybe this is what a stable relationship looks like. I’m no longer afraid of something going terribly wrong; I no longer view my vulnerability as a weakness. I’d like to believe that at this point, after multiple years off of the platform, I can exercise moderation, that I no longer care about maintaining “a presence” or “a brand.” I guess the only way to find out is to try, but I still can’t shake the feeling that rejoining a platform I largely despise — even for the sake of visibility, of adding my own voice back into the discourse — would be a form of spiritual regression.
